Textile fibre technology company, Spinnova, has completed the construction of a pilot production line in Jyväskylä, Finland. The plant will produce textile fibre from cellulose and is a significant step in producing larger volumes of sustainable textile fibres. Elomatic partnered Spinnova in the project starting from the preliminary study and design, all the way up to the start-up of the plant.
The 2018 turnover of the Elomatic Group grew by 12% to over 81 million euros. During the financial period, the group recruited 162 new employees with the total number of employees spiking to over 950. Elomatic is continuing an active recruitment drive at the beginning of 2019 to meet its increased number of commissions.
Elomatic has partnered with Japanese shipping company NYK Group and NYK’s technology arm MTI to create the concept design for a futuristic emission-free pure car and truck carrier (PCTC), – the “NYK SUPER ECO SHIP 2050”. Compared to current vessels, the NYK SUPER ECO SHIP 2050 will reduce CO2 emissions by 100%. The energy-efficient vessel will also reduce energy derived from bunker fuels by approx. 70%.
Elomatic and FS Dynamics from Sweden have agreed to transfer ownership of FS Dynamic’s business operations in Finland, FS Dynamics Finland Oy Ab, to Elomatic on 31.10.2018.
Elomatic and Deltamarin Ltd, both from Turku Finland, have signed a significant agreement with MV WERFTEN Wismar GmbH for the basic and detail design of a second Global class cruise ship. The value of the contract is approximately €17M for Elomatic and €16.5M for Deltamarin. The vessel will be built in parallel in Wismar and Rostock, Germany. The contract was signed on 26.10.2018 and design work has already commenced.
At the beginning of the summer, KONE Oyj organised at two-day Mechathon event with the Tampere University of Applied Science (TAMK). The Mechathon is a mechanics innovation and design competition where a KONE panel selects the best solution for a given challenge. After winning the competition, Elomatic and KONE will cooperate in developing the solution on a joint project.

Elomatic Ltd’s turnover grew by over 30% in the 2017 financial year, peaking at a record 72 million euros. At the same time the number of employees rose to over 850. The outlook is positive and the company predicts growth for 2018 as well.
Elomatic has donated its funds earmarked for Season’s greetings to the Baltic Sea Action Group for a healthier Baltic Sea. We want to do our part to spread wellbeing and support the cleaning up of the ocean. The Baltic Sea needs oxygen!
The Association of Finnish Marine Industries voted in its new board at the association’s autumn meeting. Elomatic’s CEO Patrik Rautaheimo was elected as the chairman of the association. He looks forward greatly to this new role.
