What our first sustainability report tells us about 2025

CEO, Elomatic

2025 was a strong year for Elomatic. We reached record revenue for the third year in a row, and we started managing our sustainability work more systematically. Now we have published our first sustainability report – a tool we’ll keep using as our sustainability work develops.

Our business purpose says it well: together with our customers, we create sustainable solutions. Last year, we wanted to look deeper and start reporting on all our activities from a sustainability point of view. We also gave each sustainability topic an owner in our top management, and we updated our code of conduct.

Alongside this, we built dedicated sustainability services, so we can now support customers directly inside their own projects. To bring this expertise into our team, we acquired Nomine Consult.

Sustainability across different sectors

The green transition in the energy sector and circular economy projects had a real impact on our order book last year. We served as a key partner on Europe’s largest electric boiler project for Helen, which will provide district heating for around 50,000 residents. We also helped sustainability-focused startups, such as Aisti and Zero Mine, scale up from lab to industrial production.

In the marine sector, demand grew for our Elogrid solution, which reduces vessel fuel consumption by 1–4%, and lowers carbon dioxide emissions accordingly. We also won a contract to design a polar research icebreaker in Germany. In the pharma sector, we kept designing production facilities where energy efficiency sits alongside strict safety and cleanroom requirements.

The people driving this work

Projects like these build sustainability directly into the engineering work. For us, that means tangible decisions: how much energy a plant uses, how efficiently a vessel operates, whether a material can be recovered, and how safely and efficiently a new production process can scale.

That is why we need people who truly care about the outcome. Many of our employees are genuinely motivated by sustainability challenges, and we have built strong expertise in areas such as clean fuels, hydrogen solutions, and biomaterials.

We invest in how people work as much as what they know. Our EloWe company culture rests on psychological safety and employee wellbeing, and we see this culture as central to how we grow.

An honest look at where we stand

We did not publish a sustainability report to check a box. We wanted to gain a clear and honest picture of where we stand today, including the areas where we still have work to do. For example, our emissions data still mainly covers our Finnish operations, and we are now working to improve this.

Even so, this report shows that sustainability is no longer a separate theme alongside our business. It is increasingly becoming part of what we engineer, how we operate, and how we create value for our customers.

We invite you to read the full report for more detail on these topics and the many other areas of our sustainability work. Next year’s report will show how far we have come.
