We design and implement Power-to-X solutions that promote the production and use of emission-free energy, both on land and at sea.
We are your reliable design partner in the development of hydrogen economy and Power-to-X solutions. We implement projects and support project developers throughout the entire hydrogen economy value chain, from renewable energy production to the use of green hydrogen and synthetic fuels refined from it. We are currently designing Finland’s first green ammonia production plant in Naantali.
Project development
We support project developers with technical and financial competencies together with our subsidiary Elron.
Our services include analyses and both concept and preliminary design services, as well as financial modeling, contract structures, the drafting of main contracts, insurance aspects, risk sharing and obtaining financing.
Our competencies include determining the investment and operating costs of technologies. We take into account the future construction phase and plant operation from the very start of the development phase. This ensures that your project stays on budget and on schedule and that the end result meets performance and cost-effectiveness goals. We also ensure that the plant meets environmental and safety requirements.
Technology consulting
We help you choose the most suitable technologies and ensure their cost-effective lifecycle management.
We have experience with Power-to-X technologies and their suppliers based on our previous projects. Based on extensive audits and negotiations, we have a deep understanding of industrial-scale technologies and their suppliers, and we maintain an ongoing dialog with technology suppliers.
Our special expertise lies in hydrogen and ammonia production technologies. Our knowledge of these technologies includes an understanding of the technology lifecycle, including the requirements and costs of aging equipment, maintenance and upkeep.
Plant investments
We serve as your partner all the way from the initial planning of the investment to the implementation and commissioning of the project.
We are your partner when you want to implement your project reliably and successfully. We act as an Owner’s Engineering partner to ensure the successful management of your project. In addition, all our expert and design services can be utilized individually according to your specific needs.
The cornerstone of our expertise is solid experience in process and plant design, chemical safety and project management. In addition to the design of the plant and its processes, our design services cover HVAC and building design, as well as electrical, instrumentation and automation design.
Safety and risk management
We ensure that your project requirements are met and risks are effectively managed throughout the entire lifecycle.
Knowledge of regulations and standards, as well as risk management, are key factors, especially when new technologies and operating methods are utilized in the project. We have long and extensive experience in process engineering risk assessments and the use of various risk assessment methods. We facilitate complex and demanding risk assessments and can prepare plans and reports as required by the authorities.
We utilize technical calculations in assessing risks and impacts and are experts in structural and flow calculation methods. With these we can produce extensive and accurate models and scenarios to ensure the safety of the project and to identify risks.
We design for explosive atmospheres together with our technological expertise and plant design teams. We create space classifications, explosion protection documents, and equipment selections suitable for the spaces and processes together with the project team, for example by preparing procurement specifications and checking the suitability of procurements for the object.
Procurement strategies
We support our clients in strategic procurements, including risk management, selecting technology suppliers, and contractual matters.
We help identify project-specific risks and minimize them in relation to the project goals. Our strong knowledge of technology suppliers helps you select the most suitable and proven delivery providers for your project.
Lifecycle cost management is a key area of our expertise. We help you find a balance between investments, operating costs and risks. At the same time, we ensure that procurements also support your strategic goals in terms of contract technology. We understand the importance of the division of responsibilities and obligations in a successful project.

E-fuels
We design and implement solutions for fuel production, distribution and use.
We have consulting and engineering competencies both on land and at sea, and we can support your projects from the production and distribution of synthetic fuels.
We can help you select ammonia, hydrogen, methane and methanol solutions, as well as applications for other synthetic refining products. In addition to our onshore expertise, we can use our offshore structural expertise to implement e-fuel solutions offshore, whether it is for e-fuel production, use or ship refueling.
As needed, we can analyze the entire hydrogen economy value chain, from renewable energy to ship propulsion.

Pioneers of the hydrogen economy: Elomatic designs Green North Energy’s green ammonia production plant
Planning for the Naantali plant began in 2022 with a concept design and is now in the basic design phase. Elomatic will act as Green North Energy’s partner until the plants are completed.
Elomatic consults Vantaan Energia on carbon capture and utilization
Elomatic investigated the options for utilizing carbon dioxide captured from the flue gases of Vantaan Energia’s waste incineration plant for the production of formic acid. The study included process descriptions, energy and mass balances, cost estimates, production costs, implementation plans with timelines, and risk assessments. Elomatic also researched technology providers for formic acid production and carbon capture.
Elomatic designs concepts for advanced ammonia-fuel ready LNG-fueled vessel for NYK Line
The ammonia-fueled ship concept design was used to explore future technologies and development trends in the shipping industry. When an ammonia-fuel ready LNG-fueled vessel is ordered from a shipbuilder in the future, Elomatic’s concept design can then be used.
