Concept design, new solutions
In the concept design phase naval architects are able to introduce novel ship solutions. Our naval architects can create an energy efficient and safe ship for any given mission. This is done by using the most advanced tools and drawing on extensive our experience in all design phases and disciplines.
We have a long tradition in ship design and have designed and engineered a wide range of vessel types and sizes; from road ferries to the world’s largest passenger vessels, and from cargo vessels to sophisticated special vessels.
Based on this tradition and expertise in all design disciplines, we can create a winning ship concept for any purpose. We have special expertise in novel machinery solutions, icy conditions and alternative fuels, like LNG.
We use the most sophisticated tools in concept design. In addition to naval architects, we have our own CFD analysis teams to support concept design. A key focus area for us is fine-tuning the hull form in order to maximize energy efficiency and reduce emissions. We can also utilise our internal visualisation resources to make eye-catching promotional materials of the concept.

2022 Concept Design for Ammonia-Fuel Ready LNG-Fueled Vessel
Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha, MTI Co. Ltd. and Elomatic Oy have completed the development of a concept design for an ammonia-fuel ready LNG-fueled vessel (ARLFV) for the transition to a future marine fuel.
