Business Finland has awarded R&D funding to Green NortH2 Energy, a pioneer of green ammonia production in Finland. With the loan, the company is developing a green hydrogen and ammonia production concept. The company plays an important role in Finland’s security of supply and green transition.
FinVector Oy, a leading developer of viral-based gene therapy products, has chosen Elomatic Oy as the consultant for the construction of its new pharmaceutical facilities to be built in Kuopio, Finland.
Guido Schulte (M.Sc.) has been appointed as Sales Director for Elomatic’s Marine & Offshore Energy Business Unit (BU) starting on November 1, 2022. He will also continue in his position as Managing Director at Elomatic Maritime Technologies GmbH in Wismar, Germany.
Green NortH2 Energy, Meriaura and Wärtsilä have signed Letter of Intent for building of a cargo vessel that runs on green ammonia. The vessel, equipped with Wärtsilä’s modular multifuel main engines, will be ordered and operated by Meriaura, and Green NortH2 Energy is responsible for supplying green ammonia fuel, which is produced with renewable electricity. The delivery of the vessel is targeted for 2024 and it is planned to start operating on green ammonia in 2026. 
Green North Energy Oy has made a reservation for a plot of land in the Luolala area of Naantali to advance the planning of the company’s green hydrogen project. The intention of the project is to produce hydrogen products, such as green ammonia, on the basis of renewable electricity. This enables both global and local green transition and improves Finland’s security of supply. Currently, the company is investigating alternative locations for the production plant.
Color Line has ordered the Elogrid solution from Elomatic for two of its passenger car ferries to improve their energy efficiency. The Elogrid grid design for thruster openings reduces the additional resistance of vessels. This reduces fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. Elogrid also enhances the performance of thruster tunnels, which leads to better maneuverability.
Viking Line acquires Elomatic’s Elogrid solution for its Viking Grace ship. Elogrid reduces the additional resistance of the vessel and improves the thrust. The decision has a significant impact on the environmental impact of Viking Line's operations: fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions will be significantly reduced.
Elomatic will be exhibiting at the SMM trade fair (Shipbuilding, Mechanical and Marine Technology trade fair) 6–9 September 2022 in Hamburg. For the 30th time, the event brings together maritime industry professionals from all over the world.
Elomatic Oy has established a subsidiary in Wismar, Germany, focusing on ship design and offshore wind power structures. The new subsidiary, called Elomatic Maritime Technologies, will enhance Elomatic's capacity to provide excellence to shipping companies, operators, and shipyards worldwide. There are many experienced professionals in the area due to the closure of the MV Werften shipyard.
Elomatic takes part in the DREAMS-project (Database for Radically Enhancing Additive Manufacturing and Standardization), led by DIMECC, that will create a material database for 3D metal printing. The project is funded by companies and Business Finland, and it involves leading Finnish companies and research institutes.
