Joined Elomatic: March 2017

Office: Jyväskylä

Current Position: Software Developer

Tasks: Development and maintenance of 360°Tools maintenance software

"What I like most about my work at Elomatic is that I can be part of building a system that benefits customers and eases the daily work of maintenance staff. The customers’ wishes and development ideas become concrete when I think about their implementation and provide me with pleasant challenges and task diversity during the work day."

Why Elomatic?

I heard that Elomatic was recruiting software developers while studying in the third year of my engineering studies at the Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences. Having lived in Jyväskylä for a long time, the company was known to me and the job description also sounded interesting, so I decided to apply. We agreed on an interview time where from the first moment Elomatic impressed me and we agreed on a training contract. In hindsight, I have been satisfied with my tasks and colleagues.

How has it turned out?

When I arrived at Elomatic I started as a trainee as part of my study programme at the Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences. At the outset my most important tasks was the development and maintenance of the browser-based 360°Tools maintenance software. The main users of the software are Finnish district heating companies. One of my first tasks was a server transfer, where the customer’s systems were moved from an old server to a new one. My main task is programming and the programming languages used are JavaScript, PHP and modern web technologies.

During the trainee period I received a topic from Elomatic for my thesis: "Integration of GPS positioning with district heating company’s maintenance system”.  In my thesis, the 360°Tools’ eMap software was updated and user positioning and its visualisation on a Google Maps-based application were added to the software. After completing my thesis and graduation from the Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences, I entered into a full-time contract with Elomatic and am continuing the development of my thesis topic.

What I do in my free time

I mainly spend my free time at the gym and playing video games, but depending on the seasons my hobbies also include hiking, snowboarding and jogging.
