Elomatic
purchases shareholding in Polish engineering company
|
|
After
summer 2007, Elomatic gained a 30% stake in Polish engineering
company, Cadmartech. The Gdansk-based company offers ship and plant
design services world-wide. In conjunction with its subcontractors
and partners, Cadmartech can also offer also turn-key deliveries in
steel block fabrication and hull assemblies. The plant design
division is active in the oil & gas, mechanical and
petrochemical sectors.
Elomatic’s stake
in Cadmartech increases the capacity of the Elomatic network and
enables it to take on bigger projects. The scope of Elomatic
commissions has also been increased as Cadmartech has special
expertise outside the traditional Elomatic strongholds of cruise
and passenger ships.
Cadmartech
employees have been working at Elomatic where they have gained
experience of Elomatic engineering projects. They have already
been very active in Elomatic projects, most notably in the design
of machinery areas and AC rooms for both the Color Superspeed and
Genesis projects for Aker Yards. Elomatic project supervisors have
also spent time in
Gdansk
to secure and develop data transfer and to pass on the Elomatic
way of working to other Cadmartech employees.

Elomatic
expands in Jyväskylä
|
|
Construction work on a major
office extension at Elomatic Oy, Kangasvuorentie 10, Jyväskylä
started at the beginning of July 2007. It is set to be completed
before the summer of 2008 when the new extension will add almost
2500m2 to the present premises and make room for 150 additional
staff members and a spacious canteen. The goal of the project is
to create unified premises that will serve the business unit’s
operational needs for at least a few years.
The Elomatic Paper &
Mechanical business unit in Jyväskylä has shown strong growth in
recent years and the outlook for the sector looks promising. In
November 2004, the acquisition of another engineering company in
Jyvaskylä added 90 employees to the unit. Since the acquisition
and subsequent growth the unit’s turnover has increased by more
than 200% in three years and the number of employees has more than
doubled, currently standing at a 2007 average of 259. During this
time the business unit has been operating out of two separate
locations in Jyväskylä.
Bringing all the unit’s employees under one roof has great
synergy advantages and will allow for more efficient business
operations and profitability as well as an improvement in the
overall cooperation between different disciplines within the unit.
The resulting cohesion of the working community, improved
facilities and work enjoyment as are further advantages of the
project.

Pharmaceutical
Production Wastewater Treatment with
Fenton's Method
|
|
The
Kemwell salazopyrine production plant in Uppsala, Sweden has
taken a new wastewater system into use for which the conceptual,
basic and detail design was conducted by Elomatic. The
system uses Fenton's method for wastewater treatment and was built
inside a large GE Healthcare compound from which there is only one
discharge to the district wastewater plant. More stringent
municipal wastewater regulations in Sweden meant that both GE
Healthcare and Kemwell had to significantly change their
wastewater systems to comply with the new regulations. Contact
Stefan Åkerman from the Elomatic Life Science business unit for
more information regarding the project.
