A product’s usability can be improved by sufficiently early and systematic actions taken in product design. Elomatic offers usability services for all design phases. Our usability experts work in close cooperation with industrial designers and technical designers to ensure good use quality, good user safety, efficiency and products that are pleasant to use.
The content and extent of the service can be adapted to the customer’s needs. The customer can for example choose a fast usability evaluation or a more extensive series of usability services combined with industrial design and other design services. See also our ergonomics services.

Usability Testing and Expert Review
In usability testing the product’s usability is tested with the help of the real end user either in the user environment or in laboratory conditions. The test can be conducted on finished products or preferably on the product interface prototype in the beginning of the design phase. The test report contains the identified usability problem areas and suggestions for nullifying them.
The expert evaluation can be conducted for a finished product or a product prototype. The evaluation report includes issues that weaken usability and suggestions for nullifying them.
Training in User Centred Design
We also offer training for designers and managers of product development companies in taking the user the perspective into consideration in product development. The training provides information about the human product user to the extent required by the designer and provides basic readiness and concrete measures to design more user friendly, productive and safer products.
There are two training alternatives to choose from. Usability perspective focused training is best suited to software and web application designers. For different physical products and space designers we recommend training that combines usability and physical ergonomics perspectives. A full day is required for user centred and can be conducted at Elomatic’s or at our customers’ premises.
