Laser Scanning

Laser scanning is an advanced measuring technique that produces 3D models from measured targets.

Elomatic has ten years’ experience of laser scanning. We have several different modern laser scanners from which we choose the best suited device for each project.

We have several different methods available for handling the measurement data and apply the best suited method according to our customers’ needs. We can deliver the materials in different formats: point clouds, triangulation nets, genuine 3D models, shape cross-sections, 2D drawings etc. We also perform space dimensioning, symmetry analysis and shape comparisons for design models.

Application Areas

  • Factories and processes
  • Ships and other vessels
  • Single components
  • Buildings
  • Terrain measurements
  • Tunnels, Mining
  • Architecture
  • Accident investigations

Single object scanning

We use highly accurate optic 3D scanners for scanning single objects. We also produce double-curvature surface models to support change or mould design. In shape comparisons we compare scanned materials with 3D design models or different scanned materials from different objects with each other. This provides valuable information e.g. in quality control or trouble shooting.

Plant scale scanning

When planning changes to existing facilities a common problem can be a lack of initial data. We create 3D models to be used as initial data by scanning plant processes, ships and buildings. An accurate 3D model speeds up design, improves design quality and reduces inherent design risks. Total design costs are reduced due to the avoidance of unpleasant surprises, the speeding up of installation and the shortening of shutdown periods.

ScanBrowser – Laser scanning portal

Elomatic ScanBrowser is an internet-based solution for navigating laser scanned data. With your project specific password you can access project data via the internet regardless of location. The ScanBrowser solution includes measuring functions and commenting functions and is thus a powerful tool for project engineers, supervisors and end customers.
